EVALUATION: QUESTION 4

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

It doesn't matter what part of the media industry you are in, the audience feedback will always be one of the key parts because it is the only way that you will know if your media product was a success or not, it is really important that you take on board all of the feedback that you get back because that is the only way that you will be able to improve and make it better for next time.

When our music video was shown in the cinema it got a really positive reaction from the crowd as i think that they all thought that we met the genre of the song, and the fact that we placed a black and white effect over the shots meant that the audience was able to connect with the music video and the artist easier which is the most important thing when you are making a music video where the aim is to promote the artist and her brand.

When we all watched our music videos back in front of the whole class there were a number of comments that were made to tell us that we were doing the right thing with this music video, one of the comments was that someone in the class felt quite emotional when watching the video as she said that she had a tear in her eye, this told us that the black and white effect that was running throughout the music video really worked. We were really pleased that we were getting these kinds of comments back from the class because as soon as we chose the song at the very start of this project we all knew exactly what king of music video we wanted to accompany it.

Another comment that we got back from the class was that the effects that we used really suited the genre of the song, for example one effect that myself and the whole group are really proud of was the one in the middle when our artist is standing in front of the bench looking back at herself and then she slowly fades away, we tried to use a lot of fade ins and outs in our music video because it was quite a slow song and it would look completely wrong if there were a load of fast cuts all over the place.

The last comment that we got regarding our music video is that they really liked the choice of locations that we chose, they all said that the setting that we used really matched the mood of the song which is what we wanted straight from the start, as soon as we all sat down and listened to the song we knew that the two locations that we wanted to use was regents canal and a park, the reason that we thought these would work well is because from all the research that we did from similar artists such as adele we noticed that a lot of the time she we in a secluded location such as on a dark bridge or down by the water.

Our target audience was young females because from all the research that we did into our target audience and into our genre we found that women were much more likely to be able to connect with the artist, it is really important that we made our music video with our target audience in mind because they are the ones who are going to buy the products.

If I'm completely honest i think that the first two locations that we used really fitted in nicely with the song and they both looked really strong, but the third location which was London bridge felt a little bit out of place because the first two locations were in secluded areas and then all of a sudden she was standing on London bridge with about hundred people walking past and in the middle of the road with all the cars beeping at her.

I have learnt a lot from all of the audience feedback that i have gathered, the main thing being how important is is to listen to the audience because without them there is no point making media because if they don't like it then it would all seem a bit pointless, now that we are at the end of this project i now know the importance to research into your target audience because they are the ones who are going to watch it and hopefully like it.

I do now look at my products in a different light because i had no idea of the importance of linking all of the products together because i now know that you need to have the same colour scheme across all the products of our promotional package as well as the same font and text size, it is really important that we make them look as much alike a possible because the main aim is to get the audience to want to buy our artist products so it is important that we make them remember her images, her name and her genre which is why there is a huge close up of our artist across all of the products.

From the continued feedback that we received from our teachers we were able to refine our music video and clean up any errors that may have occurred, for example when we first started editing our teachers noticed that there were not that many close ups in our music video which would really effect the overall mark because we get the majority of the marks from varied camera shots which is why it was always important to use a number of different shots throughout our music video.

From my self reflection on the project i found that i had very little regrets with the overall outcome of the project because all of the ideas that we threw on the table at the start were brought to life when we started filming and editing, for the main idea that we wanted to use was to place a black and white filter over all of our shots, the reason for this is because i thought that it would best match the mood of the piece which was always really important to us.
