How the Music Industry uses Social Networking Sites

How the Music Industry uses Social Networking Sites

Social networking is used for nearly everything nowadays. However artists use social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter for promotional purposes. Sites such as Facebook can be used to open a page up. On this page they could get fans to like them. Also as millions of people go online, Not only fans can get involved with the move. Artists can promote there new material on Facebook and can be viewed by millions daily. This gives them a chance to almost break free and attract a wider audience. Another social networking sites that are very popular include 'Twitter'. Twitter is a whole different type of social networking in where celebrities and the normal public can almost mentally be with each other. The purpose of twitter is so you could 'follow' a friend or a celebrity and know what they are doing at any time of day. They use this as they could tell the fans some news about new material and the fans will almost instantly get a pop up.

Below are a few examples:

Professor Greens Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/ProfessorGreen

Professor Green MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/professorgreen

Professor Green Twitter: http://twitter.com/professorgreen

With my artist I would like to only have a Twitter account. This is because I realize how much of the public actually use Twitter. I think it would be amazing for my artists to get the views and likes that they desire. I believe we would be able to advertise new material and also talk to the fans about what they would like themselves.
