Music videos are very important as it can define an artist and give the audience an incite into the artist personally. One of the main functions for a music video is that it promotes the artist. Millions of people want to see videos of songs so music videos will make the artist popular.
The music industry as been going downhill over the past 10-15 years so artists create videos to keep the money coming in. At the moment tours is where the artists gain most of their income and the reason people around the world come to see the artist is because they have seen the music video to the songs and want to see how the artist will portray it in front of the masses.
The other main function of a music video is that not only it promotes the artist but also the label behind the artist. Ultimately the more known the label the more people get draw into it and the label will gain more artists and make more money. To add on, the artist may want to get a 360 degree deal which makes them and the label more famous as they would be part of adverts,films,tours and maybe even make their own brands e.g perfume.
