Task 6: Carol Vernallis Theory

Carol Vernallis studies camera work and editing really closely and she found out that editing in music videos happens more often than they do in movies, and that many stand as disjunction meaning that many move in time with the beat and that are closely connected to the song, she states that the main points of observation are.

The normal rules of continuity editing are broken in order so we can pay attention to what we are seeing on screen.
Edits may be really obvious to draw attention to themselves such as wipes or special effects.
      Jump cuts are often used.
A master shot is often used to give the video a clear structure.
The camera may move in time with the music.

The Script (Hall of Fame) -- A master shot is used to give the video a clear structure

All Time Low (Weightless) -- Camera moves in time with the music

Katy Perry (ET) -- Use of special effects
